Disperse Dye and Digital Prints

I a
m on a journey of discovery to find meaningful ways to combine my artwork with my passion for photography. Using photos printed with dye sublimation inks, I transfer an image onto printmaking paper which may incorporate several layers of underpainting, then a thin layer of gesso embedded with textiles, metal leaf and textured papers. More marks are made by using pencils and other tools to scrape back through the layers.

I also experiment with a wide format printer using pigmented archival inks and a variety of papers and fabrics coated for ink jet printing. These prints may include dye processes, wax resists, smoked papers, and tea stained or rusted fabrics and papers. The possibilities are endless. The task is to find those that enhance the photograph without overpowering it.
