Experimental Gelatin Plate Printmaking

Explore a low-tech, non toxic printmaking method suitable for artwork on both paper and fabric. Using food grade gelatin as the printing plate, water based inks and your own hands as the press, both traditional and experimental printmaking techniques will be covered. Participants will create monoprints and monotypes using stencils, direct painting and overprinting, color washes and various resist and mark making methods. In addition we will discuss ways of working back into prints and creating collages to further develop the artwork. This is an enticing, highly experimental process with endless possibilities.
